What you need to know!
Booking Statuses
The casting platform utilizes a 3-stage booking process.
- Availability Check
- Status Check
- Booking
Stage 1 - Availability Check | ![]() |
Casting Directors send (or post public) "Availability Checks" to see who is available for that role, and to get more info through questions or additional photo requests which helps a casting director determine who may or may not be the right option for consideration.
If you submit for a role, or respond to an “Avail Check”, you are letting the Casting Director know you are available. This is not a booking, and you should not expect any followup release if not being considered. Casting likes to keep track of all who last said they were available in case they need to refer back to initial available options.
If you receive an “Avail Check” and are unavailable, or if during the submission process you do not meet the requested requirements, you can mark yourself as “Unavailable”. This does not negatively impact your future potential bookings. We prefer to respond either way, even when unavailable!
Stage 2 - Status Check | ![]() |
A Casting Director will send you a “Status Check” to see if you are still available and to place you on “Avail Confirmed” status which requests open communication.
When you accept this status, it is not yet a confirmed booking but we ask for open communication! If anything changes on your end, we hope you will check in with your casting director if any potential conflicts or booking offers arise. If anything changes from casting/production and the job may no longer happen, your casting director will let you know right away.
** This status is similar to "First Avail" which you might be familiar with at other casting companies
If you received a “Status Check” and are no longer available, please respond and deny the potential role. It will never impact your profile negatively. We prefer you respond either way.
Stage 3 - Booking | ![]() |
Congratulations! You are "Booked." You can now view your booking details through the link provided in your email or text notification. If you receive this email or text, do not ignore it. If you feel you received a booking in error, contact casting so your situation can be resolved.
** Through your booking details, you can also let casting and production know if you are running late to set, or if you need to cancel.
Once you receive booking details, if you no longer can make it to work due to an emergency, you must cancel the job or risk being marked as a "No Show". To avoid a “Canceled” status, please be proactive and utilize the Jobs App to let casting know in advance by updating your status to “Denied.” Frequent cancellations can affect your future bookings.
You will be marked as a “No Show” status if you were sent booking details and did not attend the call while failing to notify casting (cancel) in advance and preventing a replacement to be sent within a reasonable time frame. No Shows can affect your future bookings.
If you have already received official booking information and production cuts your role from the call, you might still receive payment. If Production has agreed to pay you for the late cancellation, this will be your resulting status.
If you receive a “Release”, you are no longer needed for the role which can apply to only 1 day, or all future dates so read your messages carefully. A "Release" can occur at any stage of the booking process.
