What’s the difference between an availability check, a request, and a booking?
Our casting process has three stages: **Availability Check → Request → Booking.**
### Availability Check
An availability check means our team at **HBG Casting** thinks you’re a great fit for a role and would like to present your photo and profile to the production team.
Responding confirms your availability so we can consider you. **It is not a booking, and you are free to accept other work.**
### Request
A request means we have presented you to the production team and/or director, and **you have been selected to move forward. The team expects us to book you once we receive the final green light. So we Reconfirm your Availability with a Request.
This is **the step immediately before a booking.** When you accept, you are reconfirming your availability, and the request will appear in the **Requests section** of your account.
We know some casting companies handle requests differently and may put more actors on request than they ultimately need. That is not our approach—we do not want to tie up your availability unnecessarily.
**A request is not yet a booking, and you are free to accept other work.** We kindly ask that you let us know promptly if your availability changes and update your response to **Pass**, so we do not move forward expecting to book you.
### Booking
An official booking confirms that you have been hired for the role and date listed. **Accepting your booking is your commitment to attend.** Please honor that commitment and avoid double-booking yourself.
### Please honor your matching dates
A matching role means you are needed to return as the same person in the same scene or sequence so the footage matches and the story makes sense. **When you accept a booking with matching dates, you are committing to all of those dates.**
Occasionally, a matching date may change because of weather or other production circumstances. If that happens, we will check your availability for the new date.
Honoring matching commitments is an important part of being a professional actor. If an issue arises, please contact casting promptly.
Thank you for responding promptly at each stage and keeping your availability current!
