Professionalism in the industry starts with timely communication.
Here’s how our process works and what’s expected:
Step 1: Initial Availability Check
When a role opens up & you are a match, HBG Casting, LLC first checks your availability. Keeping your schedule updated ensures you don’t miss out on opportunities.
Step 2: Responding Promptly
Actors who respond quickly to role listings and availability checks demonstrate professionalism.
✅ Responding quickly to availability checks is the BEST way to get work and build a reputation as a reliable actor. It shows casting teams that they can count on you, making you more likely to be considered for future roles.
✅ Even if your answer is “No, not available,” responding shows that you are professional and reliable. Clear communication helps the process run smoothly.
✅ It’s not always up to us who gets cast, but it IS up to us who gets presented for the role. Being professional and responsive increases your chances of being submitted.
Step 3: Final Availability Check & Selection
If the director selects you and you match the role, we’ll do one last check to confirm your availability before finalizing the casting.
SAG-AFTRA Members & Nonunion Actors
For SAG roles, HBG Casting, LLC needs to clear you with SAG-AFTRA, so make sure your dues are fully paid if you’re a SAG member.
If you’re nonunion but aiming to join SAG-AFTRA, we recommend setting aside a little money each week toward the membership fee. A payment plan is available—visit SAG-AFTRA.org for details.
Keeping Actors Updated
We do our best to keep actors as updated as possible and to invite you to submit with plenty of time. However, a film is a living, breathing thing with many moving parts, and sometimes things change unexpectedly. We appreciate your flexibility and professionalism throughout the process.
Key Tips for a Smooth Process:
